India: calling back its expats

Over a million jobs in a big variety of sectors are expected to open up in India in 2013 and it’s this job boom that could lure expat Indians back to their home country.

After a massive brain drain during the 1990s that led many highly skilled Indians to move overseas to look for better jobs, India is keen to get its expat community back home. According to recruiters the trend of moving abroad seems indeed to be slowing down, and in many cases, expat Indians are looking to return home. The cities that will offer most of the job opportunities will be Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai.

Jobs opportunities will mainly be created in the consumer goods sector (food, textiles, leather and related products), healthcare, IT & ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services), hotels/hospitality, education, training and consultancy.
